What tools does a Commander really need?
Yes, we’re really talking about tools!!

On this episode, owner and founder of ShopToolReview.com is our guest.  Commander Tim Johnson spends many of his days in the labs of Ryobi, Dewalt, and Milwaukee playing with all the newest tools and gadgets.  Shop Tool Reviews writers help mechanics, shop owners, joiners, cabinet makers, and furniture makers make successful tool choices for their businesses.  While Tim is not building a successful online business, he and his wife are mastering parenting with 5 beautiful kids.

The next generation of muscle cars may run on battery.

The throaty sounds of a 440-cubic inch engine with a six pack has been the audible symbol of power for the last several generation, but battery power is now changing the decibel readings by offering tons of power with just the whirl of an electric motor.  Not only is power being delivered but the disappointment of finding your cordless drill dead with a battery that won’t take a charge has been eliminated.  New lithium Ion batteries offer long run time, lots of power,

and superior shelf life.  With over 130 tools that fit the same battery, Commanders will enjoy using Ryobi tools and it won’t destroy the budget.

What’s the big deal with brush-less.

The not so new kid on the block is brush-less motors.  The price of these motors had long placed them out of the reach of  DIY ers, but price gapes are closing and you may won’t to make a quick price comparison before you head to the register.  Brush-less motors operate cooler, quieter and run longer.  If the brush-less version runs the price up more that 20% it’s probably not worth the difference.

Hand tools for life

When it comes to hand tools, wrenches, sockets, etc.., stick with a name brand that offers life time warranties.  Kobalt, Craftsman, and Husky are all good DIY Commander brands that will server you well and stand behind their guaranty.
