Ranger Sales Pitches That Work

Are we really selling something?  I thought this was a ministry?  Sometimes these kinds of conversations seem counter Christian to us.  That somehow, it’s not legitimate for us to leverage modern marketing tools to engage and energize our audience.  We all have a platform that we speak from and so does our Outposts.  I’m not suggesting that you grow your Outpost by evangelizing to the masses but rather selling to the masses this one of a kind discipleship program that just might be right for their boys.  There are human triggers that just work and using them correctly can keep your message ready and available to your audience right when they need it most.

Three Targets You Need To Take Aim At

  1. Church Family email list
  2. Ranger Family email list
  3. Community (Website)

Theses three main target audiences will help you focus your messaging and your “sales” strategy.  Every Outpost has a church family and Royal Rangers should be included in the regular messaging to that Church family.  Regular communication and collaboration with your Outposts pastor and his team will help your Outpost get properly placed in front of the congregation.

Church Family

Once or twice a year an eblast needs to go out to the entire Church family letting them know what your Outpost is doing and how they can help.  You might say, “Sister Eloise is 75.  She doesn’t need a Ranger email”.  First, Sister Eloise can easily unsubscribe, and second Sister Eloise may have a grandson moving back into town and his first grader would love to hear about your Outpost.  Sister Eloise can forward your email to her grandson and with a click of the mouse he is on your Outposts radar.

Ranger Family

Once a week your Ranger family should be getting emails highlighting your Outposts successes, boys accomplishments, upcoming events, and how to get involved.  It’s a good idea to build great headliners into every eblast subject line.  This will increase the open rate and will improve event participation.  Here are a few examples.

“One Thing Every Ranger Parent Needs to Know”

“Without This, Your Ranger Won’t Succeed”

“Only Three Weeks Until the Deadline”

“Only Three Seats Left on The Bus”

Community

A website is still the best receptacle for all your online messaging and landing pages for all your social media and correspondence.  You don’t get penalized for not keeping up with your site, but your will be rewarded is you do.  Remember, content is king, but great pictures tell the why.  I have seen simple but relative content drive googlers to sites with minimal search criteria.  Also, find someone in your church that can help you with a great photo shoot even if you must spend a few bucks.
