Do it while you’re standing in the light!

Make good decisions while you’re standing in the light and it will hold you up when you’re in the dark.

Decide Now So You Can Later

There are those common temptations that you face in life.  In those calm, lucid, moments when the lighting is good, decide how you will respond when confronted. Joseph is a good example of this.  He was determined to be loyal to his employer, and when his boss’s wife tried to seduce him, he took off running.

It’s easy to apply this to apply this to the obvious places but if your goal is a reputation above reproach you have to zoom into the common practices of everyday life.

• Lies
• Gossip
• Inappropriate material

I think our human instinct is to stop, drop, and roll.  You know the idiom that give us when a fire breaks out.  When life heats up and the lights go out we usually see how low we can go.

Spend Time in Well Lit Spaces

It is a lot easier to work on these kids of virtues when in well lit spaces, and I can’t think of any more well-lit space than a Royal Ranger Outpost.

The other benefit, that is not always comfortable, is that well lit spaces can expose some of our blemishes.

Learn to see and listen to the Holly Spirit.

This idea of making good decision really draw out the idea of wisdom, and if we are to find wisdom it is crucial for us to learn to see and listen to the Holly Spirit.

How do we hear?  The key hear is having a daily walk with the Lord which requires scripture reading, prayer, and application.

How do we see?  “Coincidences are those moments in life where we choose not to give God the credit.”

He constantly gives us moments in our life as reminders that He’s there and as confirmation that we’re making the right choice.

Action Items:

• Journal your 5 greatest personal struggles. You know what they are.  They enemy will carefully craft a seduction for each of us.  Then, imagine a few scenarios and your response.
• Get a Bible reading plan
• Within your Outpost create some growth opportunities.

  • Outpost Outings
  • Outpost Retreat
  • Training
