So, are you dangerous enough to be a GMA?  Commander Doug, it may take us a few minutes to untangle this show title, but it will be worth it, and if you don’t walk away from this episode ready to become more dangerous to the enemy of our souls, then little else can.

Commander Doug give us a little but of a behind the scenes look into the impetus for the Capstone project.

When we first transitioned out of the Community Service Projects and into the Capstone project, I was a little sad and to some degree disappointed.  At that point in our Royal Ranger Commanders Careers, Commander Wayne and I had been a part of many service projects and they were full of blood sweat and tears.  Those projects really cemented so many of the “Ranger Code” values and became a waypoint in the boys lives they would never forget.  My question was, “how could this Capstone thing ever replace it.”  The answer came over time and in large part in how we decided to role out the Capstone process.

One of the things that really gripped me about the Capstone was something I couldn’t believe we missed early on.  Words matter.  And the ability to journal your walk with the Lord and His insights for your life is enormous.  Your soul came to this planet to say something, and the only way you will ever be able to convey it is if you learn to write it down.

Think about this:

How many mythical stories spotlight a character who’s power emanates from an antient language?  He spends countless hours with centuries old text trying to understand and memorize the words on the pages.  He never caries a sword but the enemies of his realm fear him and it’s the power of these words that make him the most dangerous adversary to the one dark lord.  Sound familiar?  Our enemy know how dangerous we could become if we knew who we were in Christ and had a glimpse of where He is taking us.  It’s in Gods antient text that we see our original glory that is truer to our nature that this fallen world has exposed us to.

The Capstone project introduces, many for the first time, the power of the words in us and His word through us.  We will never fully develop into the future men God created us to be without learning to compress our thoughts and then convey them to our world.

God wrote it down and so should we.

And, Commander Doug, Commanders are not left out of these process either.  There is a book for them, A guys journey to servant leadership.

One simple thing to journal, and this is true for any vocation or organization you may work with, is to be able to communicate the message and mission of that organization or vocation.

One of the greatest things that we can dialoged about is the Ranger Code.
