Are Your Choices Adding Up [S01,E33]

Are your choices adding up?

Let’s do the math!

The truth we all need to face sooner that later is that life is cumulative.  All of our choices, every last one of them,  has lasting and long-term impact.

No Resets, No Do overs

We frequently tell each other, “start over, tomorrow is a new day.”  Yes, you can step up to a new starting line, but your last finish line will greatly impact your success.

The financial world calls this complex compounding.  Small investments over time yield big results.  We all know this to be true but be choose not to apply it when it doesn’t suit our wants.  A small amount of saving can yield a huge next egg and a small change in your diet can impact your health and add years to your life.

Consider Jared Scott Fogle, the guy from Subway.  He decided to eat half a sub from Subway and in one year he lost 245lbs.  In addition, he became a household name and by 2013 he was worth 15 million dollars.  What a huge impact with a small choice.

4 Ways It Compounds

You need look no farther than the four gold points:  Spiritual, Physical, Mental, Social.  Small daily choices in each of these areas in your life will yield big results.  God has created our days to simplify things for us.  Years divide into month, months into days, and days into hours.  Schedule your priorities and presto, you’re on your way to being “Ready”.

Warning:  A change in our choices need to happen now!!

Those born after 1995, typically called “generation Z,” were just entering their teen years when Steve Jobs introduced the world to the iPhone. Appropriately, Twenge dubs these young people, “iGen.”

Unlike millennials, these kids cannot remember a time before the Internet. Like laboratory mice, they’ve been the unwitting subjects of a historic experiment. What effect has this had on them?

As Any Stanley puts it, they are experiencially rich but relationaly impoverished.  They are more connected that any other generation, but they are spending less time together building relationships.   These teens are facing increasing metal health issues and suicide continues to rise.

Good News!

God can redeem all things.
