Become a better Christ follower

Get up early and get to know God.  I know not everyone get’s up with the sun, but we can all get up early.  In other words, your day might not start until 7pm, but you can still give God the first part of your day.  Giving God the first is a theme in God’s word that is a powerful truth.

If you’re not already accustomed to this don’t make your fist attempt a, read the Bible in 90 days plan.  Find a nice short, sweet, but impactful devotional.  I love the The Word For You Today.  Its published every quarter and has a short reading with a single verse every day.  If you fall behind or miss a day, don’t fret.  Open to the page that corresponds to today and press on.  Playing catch up will just create anxiety.  It will also help if you simply highlight the days you read.  It’s fun at the end of the quarter to see all the days you have read.  You can find these at [email protected].

Martin Luther is famous for commenting, “I have so much to do today that I’m going to need to spend three hours in prayer in order to be able to get it all done.” We must learn to see prayer as the most powerful and efficient use of your time.

Focus on the things you will do and not the things you won’t do.  This will help you see with the eyes of your heart and clarify where God is leading.

Be grateful. Finding things to be grateful for and expressing that gratitude is the antidote for complaining.  Complaining is like vomiting; afterwards you feel better but people around you feel sick.

Fear-less.  Easier said that done.  Andy Stanley says, “when your faith in someone exceeds your fear in something, fear loses its grip.”  Becoming a better Christ follower improves your faith in Christ and that will take away the enemies most powerful weapon, fear.  (Story of a loaded gun)

Spend time with other believers and Give of yourself

You were not designed to hoard what God give you.  You are a conduit for His love.  Give up some of your time talent and monies and you will be surprised how it enriches your life.
