Only 1 Responsible Thing
A mom came to me after a Wednesday night meeting asking about the safety measures that were in place for an upcoming adventure. He son in a 7th grader and has yet to attend on of our Outpost adventures. After a short conversation I began to realize that her concerns were not so much the safety of the trip but the irresponsibility of her son.
Think about how a young man’s world can absolutely open up to him when he learns how to have personal responsibility and there is something simple and profound that you can do as a Commander to help mature you Rangers.
So, what are those things that connect us to our Rangers in their home that helps us build responsibility? Before your answer, the operative phrase here is, connect us to our Rangers in their home. Sure, there are moments in every Wednesday night to be responsible, but what is consistently building a level of responsibility every single night after night after night.
Uniform

With his patrol advisor, a Lt. Commander, I had a great conversation with that young Ranger who longs to go on his first outdoor adventure. He has agreed to be personally responsible with keeping track of his uniform and making sure that its clean and ready to go for Wednesday night. I am also working with his mom to encourage her not to make sure he has it when they head out for Church.
