How To Make Fear-Less Decisions [S02,E56]

How to Make Fear-Less Decisions

Life is all about making decisions and the Bible clearly cautions us to exercise wisdom when making them.  You never be fearless in the face of tough decisions but with God’s help you can certainly fear less.  We want to focus our discussion today on making good decisions as an Outpost commander.  Commander Wayne, we have had to make a lot of decisions in our years, together haven’t we?  From, buying a bus, to finding a dad or commander a seat on a different bus.  Some are filled with excitement and others with dread, but at the end of the day you just can’t put off your responsibility as a leader.

Be in The Word

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 18:1
He who gives an answer before he hears, it is folly and shame to him.

Proverbs 19:2
Also, it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, and he who makes haste with his feet errs.

Proverbs 21:5
The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.

Proverbs 16:2
All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, but the Lord weighs the motives.

Proverbs 26:11
Like a dog that returns to its vomit is a fool who repeats his folly.

Triage

Webster defines triage as assigning degrees of urgency to (wounded or ill patients).
In any giving week the number of decision vying for your attention can not only be stressful but can easily distract you from the those that urgently need your attention.  They can also be a welcome smoke screen to avoid dealing with a tough situation but pushing those wounded patients into a closet till next week will likely result in their demise.

Wayne, we have been on both sides of this conversation and I think you would agree that pilling up the bodies can only lead to one outcome.

Use the Flux Capacitor When Necessary

This reference seemed appropriate since this years 50th Pow Wow theme is time travel.  We all remember the device that gave Doc Browns DeLorean the ability to travel through time, the flux capacitor.  A great question that we frequently ask ourselves is, “If we move forward with this new project or head in this new direction can we go back to the way things are’?  If the answer is yes, then what do you have to lose.  We can always go back to being just good.

Wayne, the enemy will never stop trying to fear us into inaction or indecision, but using wisdom and good council we can boldly handle the decisions that face us with a lot less fear.
